Reiki was rediscovered in Japan in 1922 by Mikao Usui and brought to the west by Hawayo Takata. The popularity of reiki has grown over the past few decades and is currently offered in over 800 hospitals across the country.

Reiki energy is transferred through the hands of the practioner to the client using light or no touch. An average session lasts 30 to 60 minutes in which the client rests fully clothed on a massage table or comfortable chair. Clients often reports sensations of heat or tingling.

Reiki allows muscles to relax and increases blood flow to certain areas inducing a healing response. Practioners and clients have reported lower stress levels, better sleep, improved mood, and a decrease in pain after a reiki session.
