Wow, what a great summer we have had.  It feels like it is trying to hold on just like we are trying to hold on to it.  But just like life, you can count on the seasons to change.  It’s hard sometimes to prepare and gather for the upcoming changes when all you want to do is play.  Just one more dip in the bay before it is too cold to do so.  If I don’t acknowledge that it is time for change, it will go away, right?

 

I have found that one of the dangers of personal growth is I was taught that I am in control of my thoughts and feelings.   So what happens when something comes up that I don’t want to experience?   I know, let’s change our thought about it.  But does that really release the feelings that came with the original thought?   Or does it just shove it down?   I have been procrastinating feeling and I am beginning to see the physical evidence all around me.  Last month my body became heavy and in pain while I wasn’t paying attention.

    

Like everyone else, I have been letting go of a lot of beliefs and situations in my life in preparation of the changes of seasons.  Not just summer into fall but preparing for the new shift in energies that are flowing throughout the universe.  I notice that sometimes the flow seems a little cluttered and sluggish.  I check in with myself and explore not only the thoughts but the feelings that go only with it.  I have taken the time to fully feel my emotions and allowed myself to just cry until the tears were done.

So it is time for me get my feet and head out of the sand, feel and release so I’m ready for whatever comes up next.  Life is good even when there is clutter and frustration caused by procrastination!!!

 

The Rune for September is: Uruz – Strength, Manhood/Womanhood Even though summer weather can continue, for me September always feels like autumn… the children return to school, the harvest is completing, fashions are focused more toward warmth and the beautiful earth-tones that are so soothing.  "I Know Your Mama Taught You Better"

I stepped in gum in the parking lot. It was the second time this summer. Instead of reflecting on the esoteric symbolism of these events in my life, my thought was immediate: "I know your mama taught you better than this!" I mean, really - what mother would teach her child to spit out gum in a parking lot?

It reminded me of a time, years ago, when I lived in Port Huron, Michigan, on my way north to a destination I can't recall. I was in the car behind a convertible with two young men sitting in it. As we were waiting for the light to change, the passenger dude reached out and dropped a large bag of Burger King waste on the ground! I had the opportunity to pull up next to him and said, "I know your mama taught you better than that!" He laughed, said something about mothers, and they drove on. We were heading in the same direction and I followed them for miles, strategizing how I would teach them a lesson (I didn't know about karma then).
